The CHEST Foundation's Ambassadors Group

Members of The CHEST Foundation’s Ambassadors Group participate in activities aimed at improving patient care and lung health at the local level. ACCP members’ families and other committed individuals comprise the Ambassadors Group, which is open to anyone with an interest in furthering the goals of The CHEST Foundation. The members assume a leadership role by serving on one of the various subcommittees of the Ambassadors Group to make CHEST Foundation programs accessible to communities where they work and live.

During the past year, the Ambassadors Group has continued to thrive. The group has achieved many important goals and served as a leader in educating children in the importance of staying smoke-free and the value of good lung health. The Ambassadors Group has:

  • Received targeted financial reports from the treasurer relating to Ambassadors Group projects and activities at the regular meetings and during the quarterly steering committee conference calls
  • Used CHEST Foundation lung health materials in their local level communities (ie, Detroit, Anchorage) and presented materials at international locations in Guatemala, Rumania, and China
  • Invited ACCP international members and their families to socialize and learn more about the Ambassadors Group with the Fourth Annual Global Outreach Tea, attended by more than 40 people and representing 9 countries and 17 states during CHEST 2006
  • Offered a trip to the House of Blues Gospel Brunch during CHEST 2007
  • Sponsored a poster contest for children ages 8 to 14, with the winning design displayed on the T-shirts for the CHEST 2007 Walk/Run and on posters displayed at CHEST 2007
  • Participated in the community outreach event at a local elementary school during CHEST 2007
  • Conducted meetings and outings during the April and July Board Meeting weekends
  • Became more active in the subcommittees by participating in regular conference calls, particularly in the areas of marketing, communication, and membership recruitment
  • Supported the Love Your Lungs™ wristbands by purchasing and distributing them to schools where the Lung Lessonssm curriculum was presented
  • Donated funds to support the Second Ambassadors Group Humanitarian Recognition Award recipient
