Oklahoma City VA Medical Center - Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Their Story
The Oklahoma City VA Medical Center serves eligible veterans in the greater Oklahoma City metropolitan area, the western two thirds of the state, and two counties in north central Texas. Over 1,400 employees provide expertise and direction in patient care, medical education, and clinical research. The Oklahoma City VA has 30 ICU beds, 10 each in the coronary, medical, and surgical units.

This medical center was one of two pilot sites selected by The CHEST Foundation to develop and implement the Critical Care Family Assistance Program (CCFAP) in 2002. Our motto is "FamilyCare—We Care Because You're Family." Since its inception, the Oklahoma City VA Family Care program has provided resources and support to almost 500 families, through assistance with lodging, meals, and transportation; provision of information and improved communication; and development of ancillary resources, such as pet therapy and music therapy.
